GenMerge solves one of the more difficult challenges faced by those doing genealogy work: identifying true duplicates. Match/merge functions in desktop genealogy products can take hours to use and show too many potential matches that are not correct and miss too many matches because of name variations.
GenMerge evaluates potential duplicates for you and eliminates those that score too low to be plausible duplicates. Using family information as part of the scoring process allows GenMerge to find duplicates that are missed using other techniques. This also allows GenMerge to avoid linking individuals that may have the same personal informtion, but often are directly related (e.g., grandfather and grandson). These cross-generational links can play havoc with a good family database!
